Getting here
is part of the adventure
Lofoten sits 68° north, and is closer than most people think. Four airports, a coastal ferry and an express boat all lead to the islands. Pick a route below and watch it light up on the map.
Flying in winter or spring? The direct Oslo flights only run in the summer season, so Skimo and Ultra-Trail travel goes through Bodø or Evenes.
Depending on the season there are international routes straight into Bodø, Tromsø and Evenes, so you can sometimes skip Oslo entirely. They come and go between summer and winter, so check what is flying for your race week.
Coming by train? The Nordland Line runs to Bodø, where the express boat and the coastal ferry take you on to Svolvær. From Sweden, the Ofoten Line ends in Narvik, and from there it is bus or rental car to Lofoten.
Sleep by the
harbour
Our event hotel is Thon Hotel Lofoten, right on the finish line, with a special athlete rate and a very good breakfast. You get the booking link with your registration confirmation, and you can add rooms for your supporters too.
Fancy something more traditional? Stay in a rorbu, a fisherman's cabin standing on poles over the water. Lofoten is full of them, from Reine to Svinøya.
Event hotel
Thon Hotel Lofoten. Athlete rate, on the square, early race-day breakfast.
Rorbu cabins
Svinøya, Reine, Nusfjord and Sakrisøy all have them.
Getting around
Rental car or bike is best. Svolvær → Å at the road's end is a 2.5-hour drive.
Stay a while
First time in Lofoten? Give it a week. Arrive early or stay on after the race.
The Gulf Stream is on your side
Despite the latitude, Lofoten's climate is mild: summer days of 12–20 °C and winters around zero. But the weather changes fast out here, all year. Whatever the forecast says: pack for four seasons, and be prepared.
